Porsche confirmed to Road & Track this week that the Taycan Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo body styles will not continue into the 2027 model year in the United States. Effective immediately: you cannot order a new Taycan wagon in America.
The official reason from Porsche's U.S. arm: "The Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo body styles of the Taycan played a minor role. It is for this reason that we have decided to discontinue these model variants."
Translation: they didn't sell.
What We're Losing
Let's be honest about what these cars were. The Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo did 0โ60 in 2.4 seconds. The Sport Turismo GTS ran it in 3.5. Both had real cargo space, proper suspension, and the kind of driving character that made Porsche's name in the first place โ just in a shape that could haul a mountain bike without the rear seat down.
What We're Losing โ Taycan Wagon Specs
| Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo 0โ60 | 2.4 sec |
| Taycan GTS Sport Turismo 0โ60 | 3.5 sec |
| Top speed (Turbo S) | 155 mph |
| Range (Turbo S, EPA) | ~280 miles |
| Cargo volume (Sport Turismo) | 16.6 cu ft rear / 44 cu ft total |
| Status | โ Discontinued in U.S. (2027 MY) |
Doug DeMuro reviewed the GTS Sport Turismo and called it "the coolest electric car." He wasn't wrong. The shape is just better than the sedan โ more purposeful, more interesting, more the kind of car you'd drive to a track day and not feel embarrassed by in the paddock.
The Awful Part: Wagons Are Having a Moment
Here's what stings: this news lands while other performance wagons are thriving in America. The BMW M5 Touring has sold surprisingly well since it arrived here โ BMW has said take rates exceeded expectations. The Audi RS6 Avant continues to move. Even Mercedes brought the E53 AMG Estate to the U.S.
But those are all combustion-engine wagons. The Taycan was trying to make the electric case for this body style โ and apparently, buyers weren't convinced. A cooling market for performance EVs, fewer conquest sales from the SUV segment, and a relatively high floor price all conspired against it.
๐ชฆ What Else We've Lost Recently
The Panamera Sport Turismo was discontinued with the previous Panamera generation. The Taycan wagons follow. The sedan lives on, and now Porsche offers simulated gear shifts on all 2027 Taycans โ a concession to drivers who want analog feel from an electric powertrain. Appreciate it for what it is, but it's not the same.
If You Want One, Buy One Now
Current Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo inventory is still on dealer lots. Once it's gone, it's gone โ at least from new production. Expect used prices to hold up well. The performance numbers are still competitive with anything on the market, and now they're discontinued, which historically adds a floor to residuals on special variants.
The Taycan sedan continues with the 2027 model year, including bigger batteries in base trims and the new simulated E-Shift transmission. It's still an excellent car. But the wagons were the ones worth having.
RIP.
